A Capacitive touch MIDI-controller with seamless looping functionality, the Eclipse combines traditional drum materials with digital functionality.
The tactile interface uses capacitive touch, which converts the intensity of pad strikes into equivalent intensity of sound. Eclipse's digital back-end allows for the development and looping of multiple beats, over which live play is possible. New MIDI sound unit specifically developed for capacitive touch developed by acoustical engineer Anthony Bisset.
Exterior materials and body construction are radically analog. Capacitive pads made from chemically-blackened copper sheet, main shell from hand-hammered copper, and main body from heirloom redwood. Construction methods fully traditional, utilizing no CAD or CNC. The result is a warmth atypical of digital instruments.
